Over two thousand women and girls of all ages put on their walking shoes at North Weald Airfield on Wednesday 21 July 2010. They walked, jogged and ran the 5 kilometre race to raise money for Cancer Research at the annual Epping Forest Race for Life.

Councillor Anne Grigg, Chairman of Epping Forest District Council walked the 5 kilometre race in support of Cancer Research UK, one of her chosen charities for the year.
The Chairman got the event underway saying: "I am delighted to see so many entrants taking part. I feel very honoured to be here for such an important cause. I know that we have many teams and individuals running in memory of loved ones, and I would like to express my own thanks to them and everyone else taking part in this essential fund raiser."

The Epping Forest Race for Life is supported by the Council's Sports and Health Development Team and staff at the Airfield. There are around 280 Race for Life events held around the UK where women and girls complete a 5 kilometre course to raise vital funds towards finding cures for cancer.
