Properties that suffered two missed collections because of the recent severe weather conditions have been prioritised for collection. Progress had been slow as refuse collectors battled in arctic conditions across Epping Forest District.
There have been several incidences of injury to collection staff with the most recent being a dislocated shoulder on Wednesday. Dustcarts have struggled in the icy conditions with vehicles skidding off roads.
Smaller street cleansing trucks are being used to move the backlog of recycling sacks in roads where dustcarts cannot reach and transferring them to a temporary collection point where dustcarts can remove them.
This may temporarily lead to large amount of sacks at one point before they are removed.

High Streets and Daily cleansing areas are being street cleansed as normal, similarly dog bins, litter bins and delivery of dry recycling sacks to outlets are also being undertaken.
We would remind all residents who had a missed collection to leave out all refuse and recycling at their normal point of collection, including any side waste. We would like to thank all residents for their understanding and cooperation at this difficult time and apologise for the inconvenience caused.
