Chairman to ring in London 2012

Chairman of the council, Councillor Brian Rolfe will accompany the Matching Handbell Ringers to ring in London 2012.  At 8.12am until 8.15am on Friday 27 July they will be marking the start of the Olympic Games together.

Councillor Rolfe said:  “I am delighted that Matching Handbell Ringers will be joining me.  The Olympic Games is a once-in-a-lifetime event and I would encourage as many Epping Forest residents to join us in welcoming in the first day of London 2012 by ringing a bell at the same time as we do.”

People across the country are being urged to ring any kind of bell to celebrate the first day of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games (as part of the London 2012 Festival) and to welcome the 205 nations to the UK.

Councillor Rolfe is urging everyone in the district to join with him, the rest of Essex and the nation in ringing their bells. He said:  “I would like to encourage as many people as possible across the district to enter into the spirit of this event and ring a bell to mark the beginning of the Olympics.”
