Shoppers are being encouraged to use the Saturday Market at North Weald Airfield during the Olympic Games.
The historic Battle of Britain Airfield will be providing a Park and Ride service for spectators attending the 5 days of Olympic Canoe Slalom action at the Lee Valley White Water Centre. Preparations for the parking area will not affect North Weald Market where it will be business as usual on Saturday.
A spokesperson for Epping Forest District Council said: “North Weald Airfield is providing 1 of 2 Park and Ride venues for the White Water events. Competition starts on Sunday 29 July for 5 days so there should be no problem with the Saturday market.”
The London 2012 Olympic Games are being promoted as the greenest ever with the vast majority of spectators using public transport to reach the Olympic Park and other venues. Lee Valley White Water Centre was the first purpose-built 2012 facility to be completed and will reopen to the public in September.
North Weald Airfield Market is signed from the M11, Ongar and Epping.
