Special Olympics Group Coming to Epping Forest

Upshire residential home, near Waltham Abbey, is looking to become Epping Forest’s Special Olympics affiliate.  To ensure the group’s success, they are looking for volunteers to help in a variety of different roles within the group.  This can be anything from coaching teams in a variety of sports to driving participants to events. Training will be supplied and it will give volunteers the opportunity to become involved in an amazing international organisation which has affiliates all over the world.

The Special Olympics is an international charity that offers year-round sport training and competition opportunities and is open to all people with intellectual (learning) disabilities, regardless of their ability.

The group, which will soon be launched in Upshire, will give athletes of all ages the opportunity to learn, enjoy and benefit from participation in individual and team sports. This in turn leads into representing their area in national games every year and culminates in European and World games every four years.

If you are interested in volunteering for the Special Olympics Epping Forest, please email Teresa Cairns at upshireresidentialhome@gmail.com
