Concessionary bus pass changes

Bus service between Epping and OngarConcessionary bus passes previously obtained via Epping Forest District Council will become the direct responsibility of Essex County Council from 1 October. The County Council will take all responsibility for administration of the concessionary fares scheme for older and disabled persons. Anyone wishing to apply for a bus pass for the first time or needs to replace a lost or stolen one should contact Essex County Council.

The move to transfer concessionary fares administration from Epping Forest District to Essex County Council is part of an Essex-wide transfer of administration from all districts and boroughs. 

No changes have been made to entitlement. Eligible residents holding a valid bus pass can travel free within Essex between 9am and midnight, Monday to Friday and all day at weekends and bank holidays A 9.30am start time applies outside Essex on weekdays. Companion passes are also available for disabled pass holders who require regular assistance.

To obtain a pass visit www.canigetapass.org.uk to download an application form or telephone 0845 200 0388. Alternatively forms are available at local libraries. All new applications should be completed in full and posted to:
