The free electric blanket testing service provided by Epping Forest District Council has been hailed as a success and a worthwhile service.
On 12 September residents were invited to bring their electric blankets along to the civic offices in Epping to be tested.
David Tingey, from Electrical Safety Assessments Ltd, tested nine blankets, none of which failed. A faulty electric blanket can be the cause of a house fire and having it tested is a quick and easy way for people to ensure they are safe.
Members of the Safer Communities team were also available on the day to advise residents how to keep themselves safe and to provide crime prevention advice.
Safer, Greener and Highways Portfolio Holder Councillor Gary Waller said: “I am delighted that none of the electric blankets tested were faulty. Those residents who took advantage of this service can now be reassured that their blanket is safe to use this winter.”
