Election of a Police and Crime Commissioner for Essex Police Area
- An election is to be held for a Police and Crime Commissioner for the Essex police area.
- Forms of nomination for the election may be obtained at the Civic Centre, Duke Street, Chelmsford, Essex, CM1 1JE from the Police Area Returning Officer who will, at the request of an elector for any electoral area, prepare a nomination paper for signature.
- Nomination papers must be delivered to the Police Area Returning Officer, Civic Centre, Duke Street, Chelmsford, Essex, CM1 1JE on any day after the date of this notice but no later than NOON on Friday, 19th October 2012.
- If any election is contested the poll will take place on Thursday, 15th November 2012.
- Applications, amendments or cancellations of postal votes must reach the Electoral Registration Officer for the electoral area (i.e. the local authority area) in which the elector is registered to vote by 5 pm on Wednesday, 31st October 2012.
- Applications to vote by proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer for the electoral area (i.e. the local authority area) in which the elector is registered to vote by 5 pm on Wednesday, 7th November 2012.
- Applications to vote by proxy at this election applied for on grounds of physical incapacity, where that physical incapacity occurred after 5 pm on Wednesday, 7th November 2012, must reach the Electoral Registration Officer for the electoral area (i.e. the local authority area) in which the elector is registered to vote by 5 pm on Thursday, 15th November 2012.
- Applications for registration must reach the Electoral Registration Officer for the electoral area (i.e. the local authority area) in which the elector is normally resident by midnight on 31st October 2012.
- A deposit of £5,000 must be paid by each candidate. It may be paid either by
• the deposit of any legal tender, or
• means of a banker’s draft,
(If paying by the above methods payments should be made at the Civic Centre, Duke Street, Chelmsford CM1 1JE) or
• debit card, or
• BACS payment (the account details are Natwest Bank Plc, High Street, Chelmsford – Sort Code: 60-05-13, Account number: 55600018).
(If using either of the last two payment methods the payment should be made by 16 October to allow time for the transaction to be cleared.)
