Parking Matters

Local people and businesses are being consulted on proposals to alter parking across Buckhurst Hill.

As car ownership has grown over the years parking has become an increasing problem for everyone, whether shopping, going to work or parking near home. The objective of the parking review by Epping Forest District Council is to encourage the viability of town centre, provide parking for residents where possible and reduce car dependency and congestion.

Having studied parking and reviewed letters received from residents in recent years, the Council has produced draft proposals for parking in Buckhurst Hill. The proposals have not yet been formalised and the Council wants as many people as possible to contribute to this consultation. A ‘Parking Matters’ consultation leaflet has been posted to every household and business in the Buckhurst Hill area. The leaflet summarises the proposals for each street and includes a questionnaire to enable people to give their views, good or bad.

The Council is also staging a number of exhibition events detailing the proposed scheme, with staff from Epping Forest District Council on-hand to discuss the proposals and answer any questions. These are being held at the Parish Council Information Centre, Queens Road on Thursday 8 July between 11am and 3pm and Monday 12 July between 3.30pm and 7.30pm and at Roding Valley Hall, Station Road on Saturday 10 July between 2.30pm and 5pm. The proposals will also be on display at the Parish Council Information Centre on weekdays between 10am and 4pm from 5 July until 16 July.
