A number of London 2012 venues are being built outside of Stratford. The Lee Valley White Water Centre is just minutes from Waltham Abbey. The Centre, which will host the Canoe Slalom events at the London 2012 Games, will be the only brand new venue to open to the public before the 2012 Games, allowing visitors to ride the rapids ahead of the Olympians.
The Centre has been built in the heart of Lee Valley Regional Park and has been designed to cater for a wide range of people, with a nerve-jangling 5m drop for more experienced canoeists and all manner of rafters, and a second gentler course, perfect for coaching a wider range of ages and abilities.
To find out how you can ride the rapids ahead of the Olympians and to sign up for the latest updates on the centre please visit gowhitewater.co.uk. A dedicated Information Point on the Lee Valley Canoe Centre has been opened at the YHA Lee Valley, Cheshunt. The Information Point is just a 25 minute walk from the site of the new Centre and is open seven days a week 9am to 7pm.
