Site Description: Springs Pond Wood is a privately owned woodland situated a short walk from Chipping Ongar High Street.  An agreement is in place between Countrycare and the landowner to provide support for the management of this site, broadly consisting of keeping the paths open and the site safe and accessible.

As the name suggests there is a large pond to the eastern end of the site and a number of springs and wet flushes throughout the wood.  Cripsey Brook marks the site’s southern boundary, with agricultural land to the north and east and allotments to the west.  Although public footpath no.19 passes nearby there are no public footpaths through the site, there is however a permissive access through the wood.
