2000AXF Deputy Hostel Manager

Part-time - 18 hours per week

11am-5pm Wednesday to Friday

Salary: £20,541 - £22,401 per annum pro rata (rising to £23,111 per annum pro rata after a minimum 5 years continuous service) including £857 Inner Fringe Allowance per annum pro rata, plus standby, call-out and essential car user payments  

The Council has a vacancy for a part-time Deputy Hostel Manager at our Homeless Persons Hostel for homeless families at Norway House, North Weald.  You would be part of a team of staff who monitor the well-being of residents ensuring they comply with the conditions of their licences.  The work also includes reporting repairs, collecting residents’ license charges and checking the safety of people placed by the Council in other temporary accommodation. This is an exciting opportunity as you will be involved in continuously improving the service through our working practices to ensure we are fully prepared for the increasing challenges that lie ahead in respect of our homelessness function.

COT09 Senior Homelessness Officer

Part-time - 18 hours per week

Temporary contract to March 2020 with view to extension.

Salary: £28,221 - £30,756 pro rata, per annum (rising to £31,401 pro-rata per annum after five years continuous service) plus £857 Inner Fringe Allowance pro rata, per annum

Homelessness (out of hours) Call Out duties required as part of a rota with other Officers, for which a payment will be made in accordance with the Collective agreement.

We are seeking to appoint a member of staff for the position of Homelessness Officer to join our Housing Options Team.

The hours of work will be 18 hours for Monday All Day, Tuesday All Day, Wednesday morning.   The service deals with applicants who are homeless or threatened with homelessness seeking to resolve their housing situation through various prevention measures. 

If you have an understanding of Homelessness Legislation, Housing Law and have experience working in a Housing or Social Welfare environment, you could be the person we are looking for.

1004SGP Senior Conservation Officer

Development Management

The Heritage Conservation Team is a vital part of the Development Control Section and has a high profile within the Council with a busy and varied work load dealing with listed buildings, conservation areas and other heritage assets within the District.

Salary £32,233 - £35,229 (rising to £36,153 after 5 years continuous service) plus £857 London Inner Fringe Allowance

We are seeking an experienced Senior Conservation Officer to run the Heritage Conservation Team. The team currently consists of a Senior Conservation Officer and a Conservation Officer and has a busy workload dealing with a District benefiting from a rich pool of heritage assets including over 1300 listed buildings, 25 conservation areas, 35 scheduled monuments, and over 300 locally listed buildings ranging from medieval market towns to Victorian suburbs, and from country house estates to former Royal Gunpowder Mills. The District is varied in character and stretches from the urban outskirts of London, served by the Central Line, to the rural landscape of Essex in the north.

1013TBY Environmental Protection Officer

Contract & Technical Services Engineering, Drainage & Water Team

Salary: £28,221 to £30,756 (rising to £31,401 after 5 years continuous service) plus £857 Inner Fringe Allowance + essential car user allowance.        

We are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced person to help the Council meet its statutory duties with regards to environmental protection. The post holder will deal with private water supplies, contaminated land, water quality, private sector drainage and pollution control. The work involves carrying out site visits, inspections, sampling, risk assessments and the investigation and resolution of a range of complaints.

You should have a degree in Environmental Science, or similar subject, (preferably with a pollution based module) and experience in contaminated land, private water supplies and drainage. The work will involve the interpretation of scientific data, service of statutory notices and giving evidence in court.

Buckhurst Hill Parish Council - Clerk to the Council


Salary LC3 Scale 42 – 45 (currently £38,052 to £40,858) on appointment plus London Fringe Allowance (currently £857)

Buckhurst Hill Parish Council is seeking to appoint a full-time Parish Clerk. 


Working closely with the Chairman and Councillors, the Clerk is responsible for all aspects of the Council including overall responsibility for its two busy community halls, two children’s playgrounds and staffing the local library two days a week in partnership with Essex County Council.


The Clerk is responsible to the Council as Head of Paid Service, for the effective management of the Parish Council; for providing advice and guidance on major policy options and for ensuring the effective implementation of Parish Council policies. The Clerk attends and supports meetings of the Council and is responsible for preparing agendas and producing minutes. The successful applicant will have a flexible approach to work and will be able to attend at least two evening meetings each month and occasionally work at weekends.
