1100TMC Compliance Officer (Trainee)

Fixed Term Contract for 12 months with a view to extend for a further 12 months 

Full time – 36 hours per week

Salary: £20,541- £22,401 per annum plus £857 Inner Fringe Allowance per annum

We are looking for two Compliance Officer’s whose main duties will be to carry out reviews of existing benefit claims to ensure that the correct level of Housing Benefit and Local Council Tax Support/Discount is granted, and to carry out reassessments of entitlement as required.

We are looking to appoint someone who may not have worked in a Local Authority Council Tax or Benefits team before but they must have transferable skills and a willingness to learn. The successful person should have excellent communication skills and some knowledge of Housing Benefit, Local Council Tax Support and Council Tax discounts.


3000ABK Project Officer

Fixed term 6 months (21.5 hours per week) from August 2018 to February 2019

We are looking for an experienced and committed project officer to work with a range of partners, researchers, volunteers and community groups to initiate and deliver this six month project.  An opportunity has become available for an experienced and motivated Benefits Officer to join our busy Benefit Service based at the Civic Offices in Epping. The successful candidate will work as part of a team of Benefit Officers to ensure prompt and accurate processing of new claims Housing Benefit and Local Council Tax Support, together with the processing of all types of changes in circumstances.


1111TMC System Administration Officer (Trainee)

This is a career graded post with the salary ranging from £18,319 - £22,401per annum (rising to £23,111 per annum after 5 years continuous service) plus £857 Inner Fringe Allowance per annum. The initial salary awarded will be dependent on the level of candidate’s experience.

We are looking for someone to train as a system administrator and become part of a team responsible for the day to day system management and administration of the Benefits IT systems. You should have excellent IT skills, good communication skills, and good organisational skills. You do not need to have any knowledge about Housing Benefit or Local Council Tax Support but it would be an advantage. Progression from a grade 4 to a grade 5 will be dependent upon proven ability. If you have previous experience of the duties of this post, an appointment can be made on a grade 5.


1090UKA Contaminated Land Officer

Salary: £32,233 to £35,229 per annum (rising to £36,153 after 5 years continuous service) plus £857 Inner Fringe Allowance per annum.

A vacancy has become available within Development Management, which forms part of the Governance Directorate for a Contaminated Land Officer based in the Council’s Civic Offices in Epping, Essex.

The post holder will be required to assist in the identification of potential risks from land contamination to residents, the public, controlled waters and the built and natural environment from land contamination on development sites. In addition a key role of the post will be to support the regulation of land contamination risks under the planning regime by advising Council planners on the feasibility of development and the adoption of appropriate conditions, and to assess the suitability of investigation reports, risk assessments, remediation schemes and Verification Reports submitted by developers.   Another important element of the post will be to maintain the relevant computer/manual mapping and database records.


2000AXX Customer Service Officer (Casual)

This is a very busy contact centre that deals with all enquiries coming into the Council, with these predominantly being via telephone and email.

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate excellent customer care skills and be able to enter data onto a computerised recording system at the same time. They must also be able to remain calm and polite under extreme pressure, whilst dealing with difficult and sometimes aggressive callers. The posts will also be expected to cover our Main reception desk, where dealing with customers will be predominantly face to face.

The Council’s Community Safety Team are seeking to recruit a CCTV Support Officer to work in its small but very demanding CCTV section reporting to the CCTV Operations Officer. We are seeking an experienced Senior Conservation Officer to run the Heritage Conservation Team. The team currently consists of a Senior Conservation Officer and a Conservation Officer and has a busy workload dealing with a District benefiting from a rich pool of heritage assets including over 1300 listed buildings, 25 conservation areas, 35 scheduled monuments, and over 300 locally listed buildings ranging from medieval market towns to Victorian suburbs, and from country house estates to former Royal Gunpowder Mills. The District is varied in character and stretches from the urban outskirts of London, served by the Central Line, to the rural landscape of Essex in the north.
