Round 2 begins as reminder letters are sent out – check your details!
Around 3300 households have not responded to our first annual canvass letter and will receive another yellow form.
Reminders will be sent out week beginning Monday 7 September, so look out for a letter from Epping Forest District Council addressed to ‘The Residents’ and follow the instructions.
By law, we must carry out an annual canvass across the district to check that the information on the electoral register is correct and up to date.
You will not be able to vote if your name is not on the register. You may also find it difficult getting credit for things like a mortgage, bank loan or even a mobile phone contract. As the May 2020 elections were cancelled, registering now means you’ll be able to vote in May 2021.
What has changed
It is taking place during a challenging public health situation so please respond online, by phone or by text wherever possible.
New legislation allows national and local data matching steps to be carried out before the canvass starts to make it more efficient and reduce costs.
Names and addresses already on the Epping Forest District Council electoral register will be compared with information held by the Department for Work and Pensions and local authority databases. Data matching is fully automated, so we only know the outcome, not how the result is achieved.
What to do
The envelope will be addressed to “The Residents” with instructions on the outside about what you need to do.
