Celebrate Emergency Services Day (999 Day) and show your support for the heroes of the NHS and Emergency Services.
Emergency Services Day
Emergency Services Day is a national day that serves as a reminder for communities across the UK to come together to honour and appreciate those who selflessly protect our safety and liberty every day of the year.
Chairman of the Council, Cllr Les Burrows said:
Emergency Services Day is an important occasion to express our gratitude to the men and women who serve in the NHS and emergency services. Today, we encourage everyone to reflect on the invaluable work that these individuals do and to consider how they can give back, whether through volunteering or simply showing appreciation.
999 Day serves as a platform to promote and support the vital work of our emergency services. It emphasises the responsible use of emergency services, educates the public about essential lifesaving skills, and encourages individuals to explore the diverse range of career and volunteering opportunities available within the emergency services family.
Volunteers, like Special Constables, Retained Firefighters, NHS Community Responders, St John Ambulance members, RNLI, Search and Rescue, and Coastguards are an integral part of the emergency services, playing a vital role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our communities. Their commitment and contribution are instrumental in keeping Britain safe and secure.
In honour of this day, the 999 Emergency Service Flag has been proudly raised at the Civic Offices in Epping. This flag symbolises our community’s deep appreciation for the tireless work performed by our emergency services, who operate around the clock 365 days of the year, to protect us all.
