New exhibition
Find out all about the history of Animal Mummies, how scientists and archaeologists today have uncovered their hidden stories. Learn more about their story through adventure trails, interactive displays and the amazing objects never seen before at Epping Forest District Museum.
Showcasing objects on loan from the Egypt Centre, Swansea University ad Saffron Walden Museum, Epping Forest District Museum’s new exhibition opens 17 September until 17 December.
The exhibition is family-friendly with interactive trails, dress-up activities and the chance to learn more about the history of animal mummification.
Family Fun Drop in: Make an Ancient Egyptian Anubis Mask
Come and make your very own Anubis mask inspired by the new exhibition Animal Mummies: Uncovered. This god, who took the form of a wild dog, helped Ancient Egyptians begin their journey to the afterlife.
All ages are welcome but the activity most suits those aged from 5 to 1 years.
No need to book, just drop in during the times below and allow about 30 minutes to do the activity.
Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Two online talks will also be taking place. One focusing on animal mummification and the other on the Catacombs of Anubis.
