New arts programme helps young people gain a nationally recognised qualification.
On Saturday 16 October, 4 young people who took part in this summer’s Bronze Arts Award course received their certificates from Council Chairman, Councillor Helen Kane. All participants passed with flying colours and are the first graduates of the Bronze Arts Award program at Epping Forest District Museum.
Bronze Arts Award
Arts Award is a nationally recognised qualification in the arts for young people age 7 – 25 years. Summer 2021 was the first time the Community, Health and Wellbeing (CCW) team had developed and delivered their own 5-day Bronze Arts Award programme. As well as taking part in arts activities and experiencing arts events, participants studied other artists, took on challenges in different art forms and shared their skills and learning with others.
They also wrote reviews on ‘The Boys: Holocaust Survivors in the Epping Forest District’ exhibition, which was on display at Epping Forest District Museum at the time of the workshops.

Engaging with the arts
Chairman of Epping Forest District Council, Councillor Helen Kane said:
It was wonderful to see how young people in the district have been engaging with the arts. I am very grateful to the officers involved in this scheme, especially Helen Palmer; I also would like to thank the parents who made sure that the youngsters were in attendance, some with extended journeys across the district.
They worked very hard to complete the Bronze Arts Award and I wish them lots of luck in continuing their award journey.
