A pre-Christmas trip on the Memory train between Ongar and North Weald was enjoyed by 70 Epping Forest district residents living with dementia or mild cognitive impairment.
Santa met travellers at Ongar station to distribute gifts and joined revellers for the jolly trip to North Weald.
Opportunity to reminisce
This was the second such event of 2022, made possible by Epping Open Gardens, Epping Ongar Railway and Epping Forest District Council’s Community Culture & Wellbeing Team.
The free event offered the opportunity to reminisce, take in the beautiful views of the district’s countryside and learn from the exceptional knowledge shared by Epping Ongar Railway volunteers.
Carriages named ‘Holly’ and ‘Ivy’ provided a very festive atmosphere with Christmas decorations and music.
Revellers enjoyed a light lunch, followed by mulled wine and mince pies at the end of their trip.
