

Commonwealth Day is an annual celebration observed by people all over the Commonwealth.
Commonwealth Day 2023 will be celebrated on Monday 13 March by people in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and Americas, the Pacific and Europe. This year’s theme is ‘Forging a sustainable and peaceful common future’.
2023 is the first Commonwealth Day with King Charles III as Head of the Commonwealth.
Friendship and goodwill

On Monday 13 March over 50 countries around the world will come together to celebrate Commonwealth Day.
This day gives us the opportunity to celebrate the friendship, spirit of unity and achievements of the Commonwealth family.
That is why Epping Forest District Council is proud to be flying the Commonwealth Flag on Monday 13 March to reflect the deep-rooted networks of friendship and goodwill that connect all the Commonwealth Countries around the globe.
10th anniversary
2023 marks the 10th anniversary of the signing of the Commonwealth Charter, which was signed by Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on 11 March 2013. It outlines the values and aspirations which unite the Commonwealth.
