Council Tax Reduction Scheme consultation

Take part in the Epping Forest District Council’s Council Tax Reduction scheme consultation.

The current Council Tax Reduction scheme has been in existence for many years and requires the completion of a 30 page application, the supply of numerous verification documents and an officer time to assess before determining a customer’s entitlement to help with their Council Tax.

Epping Forest are exploring a new Council Tax Reduction Scheme, which will make the process of applying and updating any changes easier, quicker and more cost-effective for residents and Council staff.

The result of introducing the proposed new scheme, would mean most changes to income would no longer need to be reported to EFDC, applicants would be more certain of their discounts and be able to get an instant assessment of their entitlement.

The proposed changes will affect residents who are currently receiving a reduction in their council tax. It is important that you have your say on the proposed changes.

The feedback from the consultation will be reviewed before a formal decision is made. If the proposed new scheme is adopted by Epping Forest it will come into effect from 1 April 2024.
