Empty property exemptions
If no one lives in a property and it’s unfurnished there is no charge for 1 month from the date the property became vacant.
Following the 1 month period Council Tax will be charged at 100%. The 1 month exempt period relates to the property and not an individual.
To apply for a empty property exemption or require further information:
If a property is vacant and uninhabitable due to structural works or major repair a 50% discount may be awarded whilst the work is undertaken.
The discount applies for a maximum of 1 year, after which the full Council Tax becomes payable.
