People in Shelley and Ninefields, Waltham Abbey have been joining our Community team in dancing on their doorsteps and gardens to stay active during lockdown.
Dancing is just one of a programme of activities promoted by the team during November and December.
Activity packs were delivered to homes in the two areas and then on Mondays and Wednesdays the team turned up with portable music players to encourage residents out onto their doorsteps to throw some moves to keep active.
Doorstep carol singing
The Doorstep Activity Challenge concludes with doorstep carol singing and the opportunity to participate in a colouring competition for all ages. Carols and colouring sheets will be posted to residents the first week of December
Boost community spirit
Cllr Holly Whitbread, Cabinet Member for Housing and Community said:
This programme was intended to help boost community spirit during these challenging times. It’s a fun and inclusive way of encouraging people to be more active and interact with their neighbours, while observing the COVID-19 restrictions.
