

Epping Forest Dementia Action Alliance has a packed programme of activities for this month’s Dementia Action Week.
Free Activities
Everything from nature walks, memory cafes, a coffee morning hosted by St John’s Church in Epping to information sessions and physical activities – and they’re all FREE to attend.
Dementia Action Week (May 17 – 23) is an Alzheimer’s Society initiative. This national event is designed to increase awareness and encourage people to take action to improve the lives of people affected by dementia.
Coopersale & Theydon Garnon Primary School is planning a blue nonuniform day on Friday 21st. Throughout the week every class is going to do ‘memories with grandma’ activity and they will hold a dementia awareness assembly for the whole school.
Activities for the week
Monday 17 May 11am – 12pm:
Launch of ‘Walking in Nature’ – a pleasant walk of 0.8miles taking in the natural attractions of Waltham Abbey Gardens. This walk is open to all including those affected by dementia.
Nature Walks continue every two weeks from Wednesday 2 June, 11am – 12pm with a refreshment break so take a flask and a snack.

Home Instead ‘Virtual Memory Lane Café’ – including a quiz, ‘guess that tune’ and a sing along with live music from Kevin the guitarist.

‘Virtual Dementia Friendly Coffee Morning’ hosted by St John’s Church for people affected by dementia. This is a chance for people to socialise and have a chat over a cup of tea or coffee from the comfort of their home.

Keeping Active (morning) & Active Minds (afternoon) – Action for Family Carers, Face to Face Activity Group in Epping. Groups are ideal for people with mild to moderate dementia who would benefit from physical and/or mental stimulation and fun.

Public ‘Virtual Dementia Friends Information Session’ hosted by Epping Forest Dementia Action Alliance. A friendly and interactive session to learn more about dementia, how it affects a person and what we can do, professionally and personally, to help people affected by dementia in our community.
