Essex County Council has set out a plan to manage waste in Essex over the next 30 years and we want to hear what you think about it.
Reducing waste is our priority
What we throw away comes at a cost, for residents and the environment. But by working together, we can reduce waste, protect the environment and save resources. We all need to rethink waste. This means reducing what we buy, reusing items and recycling them when they are no longer needed. By working together and making small changes, we will see a big difference.

Have your say
The consultation runs for 10 weeks from Wednesday 13 September until Wednesday 22 November 2023.
What we decide now will affect future generations
Councillor Raymond Balcombe, Contracts Portfolio Holder said:
Each year over 660,000 tonnes of waste are thrown away by Essex households. This is about half a tonne per person and equivalent to a grand piano. We can all make a big difference by taking steps to reduce, reuse and recycle more.
This is a strategy for now and the long-term, it sets out our ambitions and approach to waste management over the next 30 years. What we decide now will affect future generations, so it’s important we get it right.
Don’t waste the chance to have your say. What you tell us will inform the final strategy. By working together we can all play a part to use limited resources wisely and protect the environment.
