Epping Forest District Council has been shortlisted for four categories in this year’s prestigious Chartered Institute of Housing’s Housing Heros and Women in Housing Awards.
Shortlisted for awards
A collaboration between Estates and Land Management and Culture and Community teams has seen them shortlisted for Team of the Year in the 1001-15000 homes category while the Housing Community and Wellbeing team is shortlisted for the Best Company and Wellbeing Initiative in the 1001-15000 homes category.
Director of Housing and Property, Deborah Fenton has been shortlisted in both the Inspirational Leader and Professional of the Year in the Women in Housing Awards.
Land and Estates/Culture and Community joined forces to celebrate the communal living environment on the district’s estates, so they are viewed as privileged parts of the district where people want to live.
Housing Community and Wellbeing has invested in improving tenants’ health and wellbeing as well as the built environment, in neighbourhoods with significant levels of deprivation in contrast with the wider areas of relative affluence within the district.
Innovative and impactful
Deborah joined EFDC in July 2019 bringing her vision, determination and unstoppable enthusiasm to make the Council’s mixed tenure estates privileged parts of the district where residents want to live, and the housing service somewhere that people are keen to fulfil their career aspirations.
The winners will be announced at the start of the Chartered Institute of Housing Conference in Manchester next month.
Cllr Holly Whitbread, Cabinet Member for Housing Services said:
I am absolutely thrilled that we have been shortlisted in all four of the categories we entered in these awards.
The work that housing and communities have done over the past year has been innovative and impactful and deserving of this level of recognition. It goes without saying that Deborah’s contribution to housing at EFDC over the past nearly three years has transformed services for the real and tangible benefit of all our tenants and leaseholders.
