As route details were announced, Councillor Chris Whitbread Leader of Epping Forest District Council said:
This is marvellous news. A great honour. Epping Forest district has been chosen as one of the key locations.
With the pandemic now receding, and the just a few days before the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, residents can look forward to a wonderful couple of weekends in May.
We are hoping for sunshine as families make their plans. Drawing crowds into Epping, North Weald and Ongar, I also hope local businesses will be able to make the most of the opportunity as people continue to return to our High Streets.

About RideLondon
RideLondon has raised millions of pounds for charities. Launched following the London 2012 Olympics, it was previously hosted with Surrey but suspended during the pandemic. The switch to Essex will open up new fundraising opportunities for local charities and the promotion of cleaner greener transport and recreation.
