

The festive arts competition for residents of Shelley, Ongar and Ninefields, Waltham Abbey produced a varied range of entries from pictures to crochet work.
The competitions, created by our Community, Culture and Wellbeing team were in three categories, Christmas Colouring ( up to 11 years), Christmas Drawing (12 – 17) and Christmas Creativity (18+) with a closing date of 15 October.
Competition winners
Entries were judged by members of the team and winners chosen:
- Logan – Age 6 – Waltham Abbey
- Abigail – Age 16 – Ongar
- Monica – Age 70 – Waltham Abbey
The aim of the competitions was to help cheer residents during the current situation and to inspire creativity across the age ranges.
Logan said:
I am so excited and happy.
Abigail said:
The drawing competition gave me something to do during these hard times.
Monica said:
It’s taken me to the age of 70 to win something. My grandchildren won’t believe it!
They each received a £10 shopping voucher.
Lift community spirit
Cllr Holly Whitbread, Cabinet Member for Housing and Communities said:
This festive competition has helped lift spirits in these communities. This is the first time we’ve held such a competition and it’s really great to see residents of all ages getting involved. Congratulations to all the winners.
