There was healthy competition among our sheltered housing sites in this year’s Flowers in Bloom competition.
Residents from all 12 sheltered housing schemes entered the 3 categories:
- Best Patio
- Best flower Pot
- Best flower bed
Residents come together
Cllr Holly Whitbread, Cabinet Member for Housing and Community said:
Many of our residents have enjoyed gardening over the years. It can be beneficial to both physical and mental health and we have introduced raised beds and planters at some schemes so that all residents can continue to enjoy gardening if they wish.
Winners came together at Jessop Court, Waltham Abbey for the presentation of trophies, certificates and a souvenir booklet containing photos of all this year’s entries by Chairman of Epping Forest District Council, Mary Sartin.
The competition is now in its second year and attracted more entries than last year. Eleanor Green, Team Manager of the council’s Re-housing Team had a tough job judging the many entries.
