Members of Epping Forest District Council met on Thursday 25 April for the last time before the local elections on 2 May. The meeting is available to view online.
Tributes were paid to councillors Lynn Hughes, Anne Grigg and Kewal Chana who will be standing down at the next elections. Councillors appointed the Council’s new Chief Executive Georgina Blakemore as Returning and Electoral Registration Officer with effect from 3 May. Retiring Chief Executive Derek Macnab will see out the local elections on 2 May with Georgina Blakemore now ready to take the process forward if European Parliamentary elections become necessary later in the month.
Councillors also approved the appointment of Tina Stankley as the Council’s new ‘Section 151’ Chief Finance Officer. As a statutory role identified within the Council’s Constitution, appointment is reserved to the Full Council. The 151 Officer holds special responsibilities for the Council’s finances. Mrs Stankley is a qualified existing member of staff.
Additional matters at Full Council included a range of questions to portfolio holders, a report on site visits for planning applications and feedback from the recent meeting of the Council’s Overview and Scrutiny Committee. Finally Councillors received reports from the Council’s representatives on the Lee Valley Regional Park Authority, Roding Valley Nature Reserve and Stansted Airport Trust.
