The Government revealed its roadmap out of lockdown last week and businesses are reminded they can apply for a grant to help them reopen safely.
Essex Business Adaptation Funding
The Essex Business Adaptation Funding (EBAF) is providing grants of either £500, £1,000 or £1,500 to support local businesses carry out adjustments to premises, enabling them to continue to operate, improve or diversify their business and make sure it is COVID-secure.
Businesses should read our Essex Business Adaptation Funding Grants policy for information on eligibility and how to apply.
Help our high streets and businesses reopen safely
Councillor Sam Kane, responsible for Customer & Corporate Support Services said:
Coronavirus is going to be with us for the foreseeable future and unlike the virus, I want our businesses to survive.
The EBAF grant is a non-repayable grant for businesses to fund adaptations to their premises or business model so they can meet COVID-secure regulations.
The money could be used to pay for protective screens or barriers to protect customers and staff, for outdoor seating or shelters to trade outdoors now that Spring is almost here, or even for digital technology to establish an online presence. However it cannot be used to pay for costs such as rent, wages or PPE.
I hope all our businesses look at this grant and see how it can be used to create the safe shopping environment we all want, and help our high streets and businesses reopen safely.
