We’re recruiting volunteers to help us uncover stories from the photograph collection based at Epping Forest District Museum.
We’re looking for approximately 10 people from across the district to help identity the people and places within the museum’s collection of photographs, and more importantly, to help find the gaps in the collection and the stories that are not being told.
Get involved
Volunteering will give you the opportunity to work with other volunteers and the museum staff at the museum and remotely.
Volunteers will be invited to the museum in May for an induction to the project with tea and cake. You’ll get the chance to meet the team and explore the museum stores.

Review and reimagine
Staff and volunteers at the museum have been reviewing its collection as part of the Review and Reimagine project.
The project aims to look at all the objects within the collection to make sure they tell the rich and varied stories of the district and its people. It will enhance the knowledge of the collection; allow access to items that are more relevant to Epping Forest; and for more items to be displayed in exciting new exhibitions.
Share Museums East
Thanks to funding from Share Museums East, museum staff and volunteers have begun scanning and reviewing the photographic collection, consisting of over 7000 items.
