Introduction to the project
We are seeking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic Principal Communications and Engagement Officer to join the Harlow and Gilston Garden Town Team.
We are leading on the development of plans for new high quality, attractive and green neighbourhoods to the east, west and south of Harlow along with 7 new villages to the north, thousands of new homes will also be built within Harlow.
The Garden Town area will provide for 16,000 new homes up to 2033 and further 7,000 new homes are planned for the Gilston part of the Garden Town for the period beyond 2033. Harlow and its town centre will be regenerated, thousands of new jobs will be created and further investment will be attracted for the Enterprise Zone. This is a Government backed project which is planning for 15 years’ of growth.
Key to the growth proposals is the establishment of an innovative and sustainable transport corridor which will link the new communities with the train station, town centre and employment zones.
We have recently established a new joint team across 3 districts and 2 counties, based at Harlow Council, to ensure we collaborate and innovate. So, if you have vision and determination, are an excellent team player, and are as excited by this opportunity as we are, please do get in contact and apply for the role.
Come and join our small friendly team to help us to plan the future of the Harlow and Gilston Garden Town. This is one of the largest Government backed Garden Town projects in the Country and we are planning for significant housing growth and infrastructure improvements over the next 15 years. We are also supporting the regeneration of Harlow and its Town centre as well as building new homes and exciting new sustainable travel networks for the region.
Just outside London, with excellent transport links to the City, yet surrounded by beautiful green space, Harlow is on the cusp of its next renaissance. This is a very exciting time to help us make positive change happen.
We are looking for a talented individual with drive, ambition and relevant expertise, alongside a true desire to shape the future of the Garden Town, to be part of our enthusiastic and professional team.
As a key player in the Garden Town Team, you will be the Lead officer on community engagement, communications, publicity, public relations and investment marketing for the Harlow and Gilston Garden Town project.
You will lead on the preparation and delivery of the HGGT Communication and Engagement Plan and chair and lead the Communication and Engagement workstream to ensure progress is made according to the agreed programme of activities and that our messages are well communicated.
You will encourage and facilitate positive and open communication and collaborative working across the 3 district and 2 county council partners and with residents, businesses and a wide range of other stakeholders.
About your development
We are committed to the development of everyone in our team and we want you to grow your skills and confidence with us. We will support you through regular 1-2-1s, team meetings and away days as well as via our appraisal reviews where we can identify relevant training and development opportunities for you.
Amongst several other benefits, we allow for generous annual leave entitlement (depending on the length of Local Government Service), a local government pension scheme and flexible working hours.
