Coronation of His Majesty The King
The Coronation of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort will take place at Westminster Abbey on Saturday 6 May 2023.
There are a number of special events taking place over the Coronation weekend between Saturday 6 and Monday 8 May 2023. Visit the Royal Family website to find details of national events.
Planning a street party
Residents wishing to host a street party may still need to apply for a temporary road closure. For non-commercial events held between 6-8 May 2023 we have decided to waive the fee to simplify the application process.
Organising a street party just for residents and neighbours typically does not need a licence. You will not need to apply for Temporary Event Notice (TEN) unless:
- Amplified music is one of the main purposes of the event
- Alcohol is to be sold
Apply to close a road
Applications and relevant documents should be submitted at least 6 weeks ahead of the event using our road closure for special events form below.
Our licensing team will consult with Essex Highways and partner agencies on your behalf.
