There will be a national minute of silence on Friday 24 February to mark 1 year since the war on Ukraine started.
The minute’s silence will start at 11am on Friday 24 February. It will be a moment of reflection for us all to pay tribute to the people of Ukraine.
Epping Forest District Council will be flying the Ukrainian flag at half-mast to mark the occasion.
Generosity of spirit
Epping Forest District Council Chairman, Councillor Mary Sartin said:
The news last year that Ukraine had been invaded was devastating. It was a scary and frightening time for all of Europe.
I am so pleased we were able to welcome so many Ukrainian families to the district as part of the Homes for Ukraine scheme. It showed real generosity of spirit for those who had lost so much.
As the conflict continues, we reflect on the bravery of the country and its people and hope that peace is imminent.
