Support us

From our wonderful volunteers, to our visitors and donators, we value your support to continue the work we do!

Donate

We rely on your support to continue the work we do and keep the museum entry free of charge.

Every donation, big or small, helps us to care and preserve local history for the future.

  • £5 donation could help fund history resources for a local school pupil
  • £10 donation could help pay towards local older people’s workshops or a session for babies and their carers
  • £20 donation could help fund the conservation and preservation of our historic artefacts

You can donate by using one of our donation boxes at the museum or send a cheque, made payable to Epping Forest District Council, to us.

Volunteering

Volunteer coordinator

The museum has a growing number of fantastic volunteers, and we want to support them better, to become volunteers initially, and to be able to arrange their volunteering as efficiently as possible.

This exciting and newly created volunteer role will help to support the museum staff to do this. Helping us recruit and retain a happy, productive and fulfilled group of volunteers who make Epping Forest District Museum their volunteering place of choice.

Comments from our volunteers

“I have met some wonderful people, seen a variety of hidden treasures and learned a lot about museum work and history of the district I live in. I can’t wait to see and learn more!”

“A varied, interesting, valuable, rewarding experience. Observing and handling objects from prehistory to the present day, and all associated with Epping Forest District.”

“I initially applied to volunteer at the museum because of a lifelong love of history, especially prehistory. I relished the opportunity to gain hands-on experience. I have learned so much by working in areas I knew little about, such as costume. The work is enjoyable and fascinating, and the team I work with are very friendly too.”
