At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic recovery of outstanding Council Tax was suspended for 3 months – April to the end of June.
New bills have now been issued with new monthly instalments to help customers spread payments over the remainder of the financial year.
Urgent update 7 August
We’re sorry, we have made a mistake. All the reminder letters sent out for Council Tax arrears show an incorrect account number – the last digit of the 9 digit account number is not showing.
Please refer to your previous Council Tax bill for your complete 9 digit account number and use that when making a payment. We apologise for the inconvenience.
Formal reminder notices
Formal reminder notices are going out now and recovery action will begin again from 13 August 2020.

If you have any concerns regarding your repayments please contact our team as soon as possible at firstname.lastname@example.org. Our people can advise on alternative payment methods which may be more appropriate and ensure you are receiving all the financial help you are entitled to in order to minimise your bill.
Information available online
Help available for those whos circumstances have changed due to the current COVID-19 crisis:
- If you have a low income you can apply for Local Council Tax Support
- If you are experiencing financial difficulties due to loss of a job or reduced income you can make an application for Universal Credit
- Manage and view your account online or of you would like to set up a Direct Debit
You can make a payment, report any change of circumstances or check that you are getting all the discounts or exemptions you may be entitled to by visiting our council tax pages.
Cash payments can now be made using our payment kiosks at Waltham Abbey library and from 10 August the Broadway Cash Office will be open for customers to pay by cash on Mondays and Tuesdays between 10am and 2pm.
