A message from the Chairman of Epping Forest District Council Cllr Helen Kane to say ‘thank you’ to all NHS staff and critical workers on NHS Day.
Chairman, Cllr Helen Kane said:
On the 5 July 1948 our wonderful National Health Service (NHS) was born, bringing free healthcare to everyone in our society and we have treasured the service ever since. Indeed, the service is envied throughout the world.
Often, we take this service for granted but when coronavirus emerged back in March 2020, we were all awakened to the dedication and commitment so many NHS, Social Care and Frontline Staff provide.
We were suddenly at war with a ruthless, invisible enemy and on the frontline were our NHS doctors, nurses and paramedics, plus teams of critical workers keeping our shops open and stocked, our streets safe and our essential services running.
Today we have a chance to show our gratitude to all the NHS, Social Care and Frontline Workers who worked so diligently and without thought for themselves over the past year. We are proud today to have the specially commissioned flag flying at the Civic Offices in Epping.
On the flag are the words ‘We Thank You’ – these are three small words but said with heartfelt emotion because we all now realise how important these services are to our society and health of our nation.
So today, to all our NHS, Social Care and Frontline staff ‘We Thank You’ from the bottom of our hearts.
