Waste bins in Shelley Close in Ongar are a lot brighter thanks to local children.
Our Community, Culture and Wellbeing team along with our Estate and Land Management team launched a competition for young artists to come up with bright and breezy designs for the new communal bins.
They were asked to re-imagine the bins as train carriages and create a design for all of the bins in the store.

Judging was challenging, the final designs chosen were by:
- Savannah Stanley (age 5)
- Scarlett Cooper (age 7)
- Willow Leon (age 8)
- Lily Doughty (age 8)
All received a specialist art pack containing a sketch book, watercolours, colouring pencils, paint brush and other goodies to help them continue their talents in drawing and painting.
The bins with their new designs are now proudly displayed for all to see. Well done to the winners!
