Extra patrols are underway to combat anti-social behaviour around The Broadway in Debden.
Operation Dial
Officers from Essex Police are working with Epping Forest District Council’s community resilience officers on Operation Dial to carry out extra patrols to combat anti-social behaviour (ASB) around Debden Broadway.
This initiative is part of a larger £1.1 million investment by the Essex Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner to tackle ASB in 11 hotspot areas across the county.
The funding for this operation is provided by the central government as part of their Anti-Social Behaviour Strategy, with a focus on delivering high visibility patrols, public engagement, targeted youth outreach, and early intervention.
Addressing anti-social behaviour
The Broadway, known for its diverse range of shops, restaurants, and residential areas, has experienced instances of ASB and theft reported by the local community.
Officers will conduct regular patrols along The Broadway, engaging with the public to address concerns of anti-social behaviour, build relationships with local residents and businesses, and report any illegal activity.
Working in collaboration
Cllr Ken Williamson, Portfolio holder for Regulatory Services said:
We understand how crucial it is to tackle anti-social behaviour identified by residents. During peak hours when incidents of ASB have been reported, we will increase officer numbers in the area. Our dedicated patrols, working in collaboration with Essex Police, will provide a visible presence to reassure residents.
The patrols commenced in August and residents have already expressed their appreciation for the increased presence, and the positive effect it is having on the area.
To ensure a safe and secure community, residents are encouraged to report any instances of anti-social behaviour by using the online reporting and live chat tools provided by the police or Epping Forest District Council.
