Reports
The committee reviewed reports on the Council’s key projects from all services for the first 3 months of the year and how each project is measuring up to its target for that period.
Reports were also given from each Select Committee.
Physical and cultural activities
Engagement in physical and cultural activity has increased with a number of different workshops and events on offer for all ages and abilities.
The summer programme for 2022 started on Monday 25 July with a variety of activities for all the family to enjoy. Councillors praised the range of events on offer for families over the summer holiday, particularly Play in the Park which is a free event taking place in different locations across the district.
This increase is also shown in the amount of new gym memberships being opened across the district’s leisure centres, run by Places Leisure.
Waste collection
The extreme weather last week and staff shortages meant that collection times have been varied to keep staff safe in the heat which resulted in missed collections.
Members recognised the on-going issues the Council has been having with waste collection and how officers and the Council’s contractor, Biffa, are working hard to resolve this.
