

Make sure you have valid ID for the local elections on Thursday 4 May 2023.
All voters will need to show photo ID at their polling station in order to cast their vote.
Valid ID
Voters can use any photo ID including passports, driving licences and certain concessionary travel cards.
It does not need to be in date, so long as the photo still shows a reasonable likeness.
Voter Authority Certificate
If you do not have any acceptable photo ID, and want to vote at the polling station, you will need to apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate (VAC).
This can be done online until 5pm on Tuesday 25 April 2023 ready for the May 2023 election.
Voters who do not produce a VAC, or valid photo identification will not be allowed to vote on the day.

If you are registered to vote by post, the Voter ID requirements don’t apply.
