Play in the Park take-away packs proved very popular this summer.
The 2020 summer activity programme was slightly different to previous years, due to Covid-19 and the Community, Culture and Wellbeing (CCW) team was unable to deliver its usual jam-packed programme.
Fortunately, with extra safety measures and cleaning regimes in place, the team was able to deliver Play in the Play at 48 different parks across the district, with an activity pack participants could take home.
Over 800 packs were given to those who attended. Each pack contained a craft activity, pencils or crayons, bubbles and various games to help keep children active and have fun outdoors.

Families were able to enjoy the activities at a safe distance at each park, within their own bubbles. Many also took a pack home to enjoy.
Play in the Park Take-Away was able to take place for free thanks to the support of the Town and Parish Councils across the district.
Reconnect with the community
Councillor Holly Whitbread, Portfolio Holder for Housing and Community Service said:
The summer holiday is such a highlight in our programme, the fact that we were able to deliver a part of it in this challenging time and that the sessions could go ahead in a Covid secure environment was wonderful.
The 2020 Play in the Park was a great way to reconnect with the community after being in lockdown, and the take-away packs worked so well for those who couldn’t stay at sessions or wanted something extra to take home.
What’s next?
Epping Forest District Council is committed to providing and delivering the best service for the community and ensuring the wellbeing of residents.
As guidelines from the Government change and update, and more recreational facilities reopen, we hope to start relaunching some of our activity programme. All events and activities will adhere to the guidelines and ensure all social distancing, cleaning and hygiene measures are followed.
Keep your eyes peeled on for updates on some spooky shenanigans in October half term.
