The Inland Border Facility (IBF) will commence operations at the end of the Brexit Transition Period on 31 December.
Planning permission for the facility is due to be considered by Robert Jenrick MP – Secretary of State for the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG).
HMRC anticipates that the facility could accommodate up to 53 HGV vehicles for customs checks at a time. The 24/7 facility is intended to help to ease the expected increase in demand at Dover and other channel ports from 1 January 2021. North Weald’s position, close to the M11 and M25 was instrumental in its selection.

HMRC has written to residents neighbouring North Weald Airfield. Full details of the proposals are available on a specially developed website. Electronic copies of an engagement leaflet included in the letter to neighbouring residents can also be viewed online.
