In 2016 the Epping Forest Dementia Action Alliance (EFDAA) was formed to improve the lives of people affected by dementia and their carers.
Working with local businesses and organisations we created and delivered action plans in line with the Alzheimer’s Society Dementia Friendly Communities programme and In recognition of this invaluable work we have been awarded Dementia Friendly Community Status, under the national scheme.
This acknowledges all the hard work and commitment that our DAA members have shown in supporting people affected by dementia – those living with the condition and their carers and loved ones – in the Epping Forest district.
Inaugural meeting
Councillor Aniket Patel said: “Congratulations to Epping Forest Dementia Action Alliance on being awarded Dementia Friendly Community Status. I attended the inaugural meeting of this group in 2016 and they have achieved a considerable amount in a short period of time through the drive and determination of their volunteers.”
Local businesses and organisations who have pledged and undertaken action to become more dementia-friendly can now proudly display the status.
Mark Neville, Essex Dementia Friendly Communities Coordinator also congratulated us on achieving this recognition, saying: “This acknowledges all the hard work and commitment that the DAA members have shown so far to supporting people affected by dementia.”
