We’re opening Epping Forest District Museum early for children with SEND (special educational needs and disability) and their families, to benefit from a quieter environment to explore the museum.
The event on Saturday 9 November is free to attend and takes place between 9am and 10 am at Epping Forest District Museum, 39 – 41 Sun Street, Waltham Abbey, EN9 1EL
A limited number of Sensory Trail Backpacks are available for SEND visitors to take part in activities related to exhibitions, and to enjoy a chill out space with sensory toys. Where possible the gallery lights will be dimmed, and interactives and sounds turned off.
No need to book
There is no need to book, just drop by. Morning Explorers is most suitable for children aged 2–15.
“It is important we do all we can to help all groups of people access our museum and its exhibitions,” said Cllr Nigel Bedford, Cabinet Member for communities and Partnerships. “I hope this initiative for young people with SEND will be well supported by local families,”
