Residents in Shelley, Ongar and Ninefields, Waltham Abbey are taking part in a series of Lockdown Doorstep Activities.
Information/activity packs delivered to residents
Information/activity packs encouraging people to take part in physical and creative activities were delivered over the weekend by our Community Culture and Wellbeing team at Epping Forest District Council.
Activities will take place outside so residents can remain in the safety of their homes, doorways and gardens over the coming weeks.
They include Dance on your Doorstep, Rise and Shine, and Stretch and Relax. Other opportunities for family fun include Bubbles on the Doorstep, Brighten up your Street (with chalk pictures) and Kids Sport at the door. The programme encourages residents to get active and stay connected with a focus on physical and mental wellbeing.
Boosting community spirit
Cllr Holly Whitbread, Cabinet Member for Housing and Community said:
We hope this programme will boost community spirit during these challenging times. It’s a fun and inclusive way of encouraging people to be more active and interact with their neighbours, while observing the Covid restrictions.
The Doorstep Activity Challenge concludes with doorstep carol singing and the opportunity to participate in a colouring competition for all ages. Carols and colouring sheets will be posted to residents the first week of December.
