Inland border facility at North Weald Airfield
Robert Jenrick, Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) has approved the application by Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) for an inland border facility at North Weald Airfield.
Full details of the approval letters provided by MHCLG and HMRC are available to view here:
Epping Forest District Council has notified MHCLG of errors within the approval relating to the status of the North Weald Park development proposal which has been incorrectly described as an existing or approved development. No such approval has been given.
However, the council does not expect the error to have a practical bearing on the implementation of the border facility at North Weald prior to the end of the UK transition arrangements on 1 January 2021.
On track to open on time
Councillor Nigel Bedford, Deputy Leader and Planning Portfolio Holder for Epping Forest District Council said:
The main message to take from the Minister’s approval of the HMRC application is that the Inland Border Facility at North Weald is on track to open on time.
It is frustrating to read some of the erroneous information but I would reassure local residents that absolutely no planning approvals have been given for North Weald Park. Any planning applications for North Weald Park would be handled completely separately.
