Senior residents in the Epping Forest district are being encouraged to ‘Stay Well this Winter’ – an even more important message this year given the challenges of COVID-19.
Support senior residents through winter
We have teamed up with the West Essex Clinical Commissioning group in the campaign, which normally promotes face-to-face events at local venues across the district.
But, due government Covid restrictions the Community, Culture and Wellbeing team has joined up with partners to put together a bag of helpful information and goodies to support senior residents during of the winter months.
Important and helpful information
The eye-catching reusable tote bag contains important information on flu vaccinations, how to keep well and warm, social, physical and mental wellbeing, social subscribing and what to do in an emergency.
Partners in the programme include East of England Ambulance Service, Age UK, St Clare Hospice, Voluntary Action Epping Forest, Epping Reuse, Carers First, Essex Road Safety, Community Agents Essex and the team from Social Prescribers.
Supporting elderly people within our community
Cllr Holly Whitbread, portfolio holder for Housing and Community Services is backing the campaign.
It is brilliant that, despite Covid, the EFDC Community, Culture and Wellbeing team, working with local partners, is continuing to run the ‘Stay Well this Winter’ programme which supports elderly people within our community. At this time, it is more important than ever that we provide support for the most vulnerable.
This wonderful scheme provides advice and support for older people over the winter months. As we move into the weeks of lockdown, I would encourage everyone to reach out to elderly and vulnerable neighbours and check they have the support they require at this challenging time.
We will be distributing 1,000 bags
Epping Forest District Council will be distributing 1,000 bags over the coming winter months so, if you would like to receive your free bag please email, Senior Community Engagement Officer, Patrick Arnold parnold@eppingforestdc.gov.uk
