Councillors at Stronger Place Select Committee on Tuesday 17 September received updates on the St Johns Road development, North Weald Airfield masterplan and the Local Plan.
St Johns Road development
The Council and its project management consultants White, Young and Green have had several meetings which have focussed on aligning the objectives of the site with the requirements of the Submission Version of the Local Plan.
Considering the Local Plan parking requirements for developments going forward, a survey of available parking is due to take place this month. A survey of the main school building has also been commissioned, this will ascertain the viability of using the existing building in design plans.
Cabinet examined some initial ideas for the design at a workshop on 24 September. A public consultation and Quality Review Panel will follow, with key decisions made at a meeting of Cabinet on 5 December this year.
North Weald Airfield masterplan
Experienced masterplanners Turner and Townsend, have been appointed following their successful tender to undertake work on the North Weald Airfield Masterplan.
Works will include:
- Preparation of the Masterplan, detailing the most appropriate allocation of uses for the site
- Design of an indicative layout
- Preparation of all necessary supplementary supporting documentation, including analysis of envisaged economic, employment, and social implications, together with a Traffic Impact Assessment
Progress reports will be presented at future meetings of Stronger Place Select Committee.
Local Plan
