Message from Councillor Helen Kane, Chairman of Council.
My thoughts go out to everyone affected by the utterly heart-breaking scenes we are seeing in Ukraine, following the country’s invasion by Russia.
I’d like to thank everyone locally who is doing what they can to provide support and rallying behind the people of Ukraine, letting them know they are not alone.
There are a number of options locally and nationally for us to provide support and ensure it can benefit those directly affected by the ongoing conflict.
A community hub, collecting humanitarian aid for the people of Ukraine has been set up in our Civic Offices in Epping in response to calls from local people wanting to do their bit to support those in need.
Initially we are opening the hub for ten days to collect humanitarian aid from simple medication, toiletries and hygiene products through to clean, good quality clothes, blankets and sleeping bags.
I would like to thank those who have already brought donations for Ukraine to the Civic Offices and the volunteers who have given their time in order to make this possible.
More information on how we can all help is available on the EFDC website.
Please join with me in offering prayers and condolences to the people of Ukraine at this terrible time.
Helen Kane
Chairman of Epping Forest District Council
