Visitors to our district are a vital part of the local economy.
We’ve seen impressive growth year-on-year with benefits to the local economy of £226m and supporting around 3,500 jobs.
Crucial to the visitor experience is our Visit Epping Forest website
Providing information about where to stay, where to eat, things to do and much more.
On average around 3,000 people visit the site a month and during busy periods, such as Bank Holidays, this can rise to 1,000 a day. Comparing figures for Easter this year, with last year the site saw a 45% increase in traffic and a 65% increase in page views.
Developed and administered by our economic development team the website promotes tourism to the Epping Forest District, but also has the benefits of supporting local business too. It’s an ideal place to promote events that would appeal to residents, visitors and tourists alike.
Visit Epping Forest features information on attractions, things to do, leisure activities, places to eat and drink, accommodation and inspiration for things such as weddings, as well as mini guides to the main towns and villages and links to their websites. There’s always a spike in views for things like the Epping Christmas Market or local firework display.
One of the most popular sections, and the most revisited, is the events calendar which currently has over 80 individual listings through to September.
